SELF REALIZATION FELLOWSHIP HIGHLIGHTS
Overlooking Swamis Beach, The Self Realization Fellowship Ashram Center has been a fixture in Encinitas since 1937. Its hard to miss it when you drive by. The ashram center was established by Paramahansa Yogananda, who resided at the spiritual heritage for many years. This is also where he wrote "Autobiography of a Yogi", his modern spiritual classic.
The Self-Realization Fellowship Ashram Center includes the Temple, a Hermitage and Meditation Gardens, and a Books & Gifts Store. The meditation gardens includes a small waterfall and koi pond. The center sits on a bluff with a beautiful ocean view. The beach below, Swamis, a popular spot for local surfers, got its nickname from the Ashram Center.
Hours:
The Hermitage: Sundays, 2-5 p.m., except in inclement weather. Meditation Gardens: Tues - Sat 9am-5pm, & Sun 11am- 5pm (Check for any time changes.)
